1st XV v Exiles - 29th September

With a number of games being called off recently due to teams not being able to get a full side, it was good of the Exiles to travel to Yarmouth with only 12 players; at the end of the day we all want to play (or watch) rugby and having leant them a number of players through the game it turned out to be an enjoyable game to watch.

From the start, Broadland were dominant and the first score came with a try after five minutes from a Broadland scrum ten metres out on the left side of the park. From the base of the scrum, a quick pass from Justin Millar to fly half Graham Clarke, to Mark LaCock, to Stu Murray - who'd come up into the line - who beat his man to score five metres from the posts. A missed conversion and it was 5 - 0 to the home side.

The second try followed ten minutes later started by Number 8, Macintosh. He broke blind-side from the back of the scrum, taking three players out he shipped the ball out to Murray on the left who easily sucked two defenders in. Once they'd committed themselves, a neat inside pass to Gav Jarnisch gave him an easy run in to score under the posts. The conversion followed and the score was 12 - 0 and more to come.

Further tries in the first-half for Durrant, Millar and O'Connor, and the game stood at 31 - 0 until the Exiles intercepted a pass and they scored beneath the Broadland posts.

That was all the scores for the away side and the game turned around at 31 - 7. A further 8 tries followed in the second-half to make the final score 79 - 7 with tries for: Elliot (3), O'Connor (3), Murray (3), Millar, Durrant, Jarnisch and (with a piercing run) Frog.

Again, thanks to the Exiles for coming down when so many teams would otherwise have called off and thanks must also go to Neil Blizzard, Elliot, Mark, Gav Jarnisch and Mark LaCock for agreeing to put the Exiles jersey on at various times during the game otherwise the game would probably not have been played anyway.
