Broadland made it three league wins in a row, with a quartet of tries over the Essex side. Broadland led from the start and three early tries gave the Yarmouth side a comfortable platform, however as complacency struck, Brightlingsea forced their way back into the game and Broadland were forced, in the end to work hard for a home win. There were three changes to the side with Carl Cantillion making the start at Wing, Rob Burling and Paul Tucker returning at Scrum Half and Fly Half., Three were no changes in the Forwards. Broadland kicked off and mounted an assault on the visitors goal line with possession won Broadland progressed down field following some excellent running from Asa Morrison and Matt Beckett. A Broadland scrum inside the Visitors 22 created Broadland's first points. Number 8 Rye Billyard picked up and accelerated down the blind side, drew his man and passed back inside to Flying Wing Matt Scott. Scott created some space and put in a short pass to Halfback Rob Burling. Burling weaved his way inside the five, then off loaded the bal to Flanker Jay Prescott who took the ball at full pace into contact at the goal line, spun out of the tackle to score an impressive try in the corner (Unconverted). Broadland met the restart with full intent of a second score. Mark La-Cock and Mark White tore through the Brightlingsea midfield, Deep into visitor territory, another Broadland scrum followed with Billyard again picking up from the base, with the ball driven down inside the five, Burling showed his agility as he took the ball from the ruck and launched himself over the goal line.(Unconverted) Brightlingsea's defence was in tatters and at the kick off Broadland again assaulted the Blind side of the field, Broadland Forwards held the ball in tight with Andy Smith, Lee Durrant and Ross Taylor all carrying the ball. It was Captain Andy Riches who was next on the score sheet as he stepped in, gathered the ball and with Herculean strength powered over the goal line to Score (Converted Burling). Broadland had amassed a 17 point lead in little over twenty minutes of play, however Broadland's attack began to splutter and Brightlingsea, got on the scorecard with a penalty, then an unconverted try. Broadland were competing well but were failing to turn half chances into scoring opportunities. Fly Half Paul Tucker orchestrated some solid attacks from the backs but Broadland could not penetrate inside the Brightlingsea 22 meter line. Broadland entered the half Leading 17 - 8. The second half started with the Broadland side still unable to emulate the dominance they had portrayed in the opening quarter. Captain Riches made two substitutions at the midway point of the second half with Stuart Murray coming on at Fullback, and Ian Mackintosh joining the back row. It looked as if Broadland were on the verge of scoring, an excellent lineout take from Lee Durrant, put the home side in excellent field position, Ian Mackintosh drove the ball down close with Riches and Taylor clearing over, Burling stepped up to pass the ball out to a clear Broadland overlap. Disaster struck Broadland as the Brightlingsea centre stepped up and intercepted under the posts, with the Broadland backs all committed to the attack, the Brightlingsea centre went the length of the pitch, pursuit from Murray and Rogers did however force him to score in the corner. The try went unconverted and Broadland held a four point lead, leaving Brightlingsea needing a try to snatch a victory. Broadland made their last substitute of the game with Richard Bristo coming on at loose head prop. Broadland showed their mettle as they absorbed the inevitable Brightlingsea ground attack, then with the ball won mounted their own attacking campaign, with time running short the attack culminated with Kyle Rogers managing to wriggle his way through the tightest of gaps to score under the posts (Converted Mackintosh) The whistle sounded following the restart.
