Broadland continued in league action as they travelled to play Fakenham, The North Norfolk side have been riding high, sitting comfortably in second place most of the season. Broadland were optimistic going into the match, needing a win to break into the top three. However optimism, on this occasion failed to deliver, as it was to be Fakenham's day. Broadland had limited changes, in the backs it was a recall to the 1st XV for Wily veteran Scrum Half Justin Miller, Iain Mackintosh showed his versatility by donning a centres shirt. There was only one change in the pack Forward Asa Morrison returned from injury to come in on the back row Broadland received the kick off and an early foray into Fakenham's half culminated in Broadland Hooker Andy Smith, being sent to the Blood Bin. Early in the half Broadland made some good yardage Iain Mackintosh and Mark White were linking well and Forwards Beckett, Taylor and Fenn were working hard in the tight to contain the Fakenham Maul. Fakenham took the lead as a blocked kick fell to the Fakenham number 8, who fell over the line for a converted try. Fakenham added a penalty shortly after to extend the lead to 10 - 0. Fakenham may have extended the lead before the half time whistle had it not been for some astute defensive work from Lee Raven. Broadland kicked off the second half, and Fakenham applied early pressure, Morrison and Murray combined to hold up the Fakenham centre over the Broadland goal and Bilyard and Prescott were providing excellent cover on the fringes. A lengthy assault in the Broadland half, again saw a blocked kick, which despite excellent covering tackles from Murray and Ruddick, Fakenham went over for a converted try. Broadland turned to more creative play, Halfbacks Justin Miller and Si Ruddick were mixing up attacking play but Fakenham held firm. Captain Andy Riches made one change with Richard Bristo coming on at Prop. Broadland Wing Matt Scott had a half chance as did Mark White, but Broadland support was not readily available and opportunities slipped from Broadland's Grasp. Fakenham extended the lead as the Half back picked, and fed back inside for the Fakenham number eight to score an unconverted try and put the game beyond Broadland's reach, Fakenham added one more unconverted try in the dying seconds of the game.
