   Felixstowe 1st XV 7 Broadland 1st XV 35 - 25.09.04

Broadland continued their winning ways in the league, with victory over Felixstowe. A blend of solid forward play and flair in attack gave the Yarmouth side a comprehensive seven try performance. The Broadland selection committee made a number of changes following some squad injuries.

Mark White, Simon Ruddick and Russell Clarke all started in the backs, in the forwards Ross Taylor returned at tight head prop and Lee Durrant came into the Second Row. Felixstowe received the kick and immediately Broadland were applying the pressure, a failed clearance from Felixstowe gave Broadland excellent field position following some strong running from Ross Taylor and Simon Ruddick. Broadland secured position two meters short of the Felixstowe goal line. Scrum Half Clarke stepped in and spun the ball down the line through Ruddick, to La-Cock and finally for Second Row Lee Durrant to feign a pass, step inside and dive over for the opening score (Unconverted).

Broadland maintained pressure and again Felixstowe were turned over, the ensuing Broadland attack was short and effective, culminating with Durrant powering through a would be tackler to score a his second in ten minutes (Unconverted). Felixstowe had some attacking runs but Broadland's Defence held firm and it was not long before Broadland were on the Score sheet again. With a scrum won just inside the Half way line, Number 8 Rye Billyard picked up, a passed to Flanker Jay Prescott,. As Prescott was tackled he popped the Ball up for Fellow Flanker Asa Morrison to collect, Morrison Broke through a tackle, and headed in to open field, stepped inside, round the winger and down the sideline, with only the Fullback to beat Morrison applied the stiff arm, then dove over to score in the corner (Unconverted)

Following a period of highly contested play, Broadland Wing Matt Scott was forced to touch back on a deep kick. Felixstowe won the ball cleanly at the unsuing scrum and there Full back went over to Score a Converted try. The Half finished Broadland Leading 15-7.

Captain Riches elected for one change at the Half with Carl Cantillion making his first team debut on the Wing. Broadland's first attack of the half was methodical, Smith, Riches and Prescott all carried the ball forward, to tie in the Felixstowe defence, the Ball was taken wide with Matt Scott making some excellent ground at the break down Scrum half Russ Clarke was on fire with an inch perfect pass, that saw Full back Kyle Rogers go over for a score just to the right of the posts (Unconverted) Broadland made two further replacements with Ian Mackintosh joining the back row and Richard Bristo coming on at prop.

A Broadland ruck at the Felixstowe 5 meter line, created an incident which could have had the fixture abandoned. A Felixstowe player went down injured and was unable to move. The referee halted play, an ambulance called and players returned to the dressing rooms. After 30minutes the player was taken from the field to hospital to receive further treatment. Team Captains and the referee discussed options and agreed to continue play.

Broadland continued to extend their lead good line out work between Hooker Andy Smith and Rye Billyard created an excellent attacking platform, Broadland drove on and Prop Matt Beckett crashed through for a score (Unconverted). Broadland turned up the pace and some great work in the centres from Mark White and Mark La-Cock gave Carl Cantillion some space to accelerate round and Score on his debut in the corner (unconverted). Broadland were not finished yet and some great running in the Midfield from Mackintosh and Bristo lead to an overlap, Durrant carried on and put in a long pass to put Cantillion in for his second on the day (Unconverted). The whistle sounded and Broadland recorded a comfortable away win.
