   Broadland 74 Haverhill 8 - 11.09.04

Broadland's league Season moved up a gear, as the Yarmouth club ran in twelve Tries, against a spirited Haverhill side, for the clubs most convincing league win in well over 18 months.

There were only two changes to the side form last week with new signing Danny Simmons making the start at tight head prop, and the experienced Mark White being called in at Outside Centre. Broadland kicked off and both sides had some early forays into each others half as the fixture appeared to be evenly matched in the first few minutes. Prop Danny Simmons marked his debut by opening the scoring for Broadland as he burst from the edge of a maul to score near the posts (Converted Mackintosh). Haverhill responded with a Penalty and Broadland held a 7- 3 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Number 8 Ian Mackintosh extended the Broadland lead after crashing through for a score (Unconverted). Broadland were beginning to dominate, the Broadland Scrum and Lineouts were providing plenty of good ball. Fly Half Paul Tucker extended the lead as he sold a dummy to his opposite number and scored under the Posts (Converted Mackintosh). Flanker Adam Bensley was next on the scoreboard as he picked up from the back of the ruck and dived over (Converted Mackintosh), just before half time Bensley added his second as he drove through two tackles to score in the club house corner (Converted Mackintosh) Broadland finished the half leading 33 -3.

Broadland started the second half with a dazzling try scoring display from the backs with three tries in the first five minutes of the Half. Full Back Kyle Rogers took a deep kick at pace and weaved his way through the Haverhill defence and out the other side, to score under the post for a Brilliant individual try (Converted Mackintosh). Broadland Wing Matt Scott took a difficult ball inside the Broadland half, beat his man, then stepped inside the Full Back to Score (Unconverted). Mark White was next on the score Board following some excellent running from Mark La-Cock and Lee Raven, White Collected to score in the corner (unconverted) Broadland were now comfortably in control in every aspect of the game with Beckett, Billyard and Simmons proving a destructive force up front as more and more Ball came Broadland's way. Wing Lee Raven Broke through to score in the corner (unconverted), Following a clean catch at the line out from Lock Lee Durrant, the Broadland pack Mauled the ball the over the Haverhill Try line for Captain Andy Riches to Touch down (Converted Mackintosh).

Broadland were soon back within scoring distance Forwards Matt Beckett and Asa Morrison drove the Ball Down inside the Haverhill 22 meter Line, and Hooker Rye Billyard broke through the middle and weaved his way down to score under the posts (Converted Burling). Haverhill did manage a score as a break, created an overlap for the winger to score a deserved try in the corner (unconverted0 to add an element of respectability to the score line. Broadland finished the day with Scrum Half Rob Burling taking the ball wide, round the Haverhill Defence to score in the corner (unconverted) to finish an impressive performance from the Great Yarmouth side. Comm-Tech Man of the match went to fly Half Paul Tucker who had been instrumental in a number of Broadland Scores as well as adding one of his own.

Next Week Broadland are in cup action as Broadland travel to Play West Norfolk in the first round of the Powergen National Junior Cup, while Broadland's 2nd XV travel to play Southwold 2nd XV both matches kick off at 3.00 pm
