Broadland Rugby Match Report Broadland's short run in the Norfolk Junior Cup, came to an end at the Quarter final stage, against a Holt side currently playing their rugby the league above the Yarmouth based side. Broadland had only limited changes in the Backs Mark La-Cock returned to join the Three Quarters, in the Forwards Richard Bristo, Lee Durrant and Rye Bilyard came into the side. Prop Forward Matt Beckett was elevated from Pack Leader to Captain with both Captain and Vice Captain out injured. Broadland kicked off and early pressure saw Broadland maintain decent field position. Number 8 Rye Bilyard made some good ground in the tight, and Scrum Half Russell Clarke was able to mix the Broadland Attacks. However for all the territory Broadland failed to score. The Scrums were hard fought with Beckett, Smith and Bristo more than holding their own. Holt began to make forays in to Broadland Half, Excellent Tackling from Flankers Morrison and Prescott were preventing Holt progressing further, Broadland again worked their way into Holts half with some excellent running from Centres La-Cock and White. Wing Lee Raven had run wide but was unable to make open field. Finally it was Holt who broke the deadlock, as their Centre broke through from the 22 to Score under the posts (converted). Broadland again pushed at Holt. Fenn and Durrant were in the Thick of both Ruck and Maul and Wing Matt Scott had a couple of Half Chances, Full Back Murray had a long range penalty attempt go wide. Holt extended their lead when a Holt maul ploughed deep into Broadland territory and when the Broadland pack finally halted their progress at the Broadland Five, the Holt Scrum half took off and dived over for a second score (converted) To make matters worse for Broadland, Holt then added a third converted try. Murray had another Penalty go astray, Broadland were in the unfortunate position to be deep inside Holts half as the Half Time whistle sounded giving the visitors a comfortable 21-0 lead. Broadland made two changes at Half time with Danny Simmonds joining the front Row and Elliot Benham Joining the back row. Both sides were fighting for every ball and Broadland's defence was in excellent form some solid tackling. Broadland made their final substation with Kyle Rogers coming onto the wing. Nether side were able to move the ball a number of high kicks were exchanged giving Broadland's back three of Rogers, Murray and Scott ample opportunity to run from deep. Broadland final attacking flurry was unfortunate not to result in a score with Scott, Morrison, Bilyard, Murray, Benham and Durrant all involved in a 50 yard break down the wing. This was Broadland's final attack of the game and with neither side adding any points in the second half Holt ran out with a comfortable win.
