Broadland made quick work of the Cambridgeshire side Sawston who failed to get on the score board. Broadland put on a six try performance for an important home league win, However the Yarmouth side will be disappointed after only adding five points in the second half. There were a number of shuffles and changes with Matt Scott returning from injury on the wing, Mark La-Cock and Mark White returned in the Centres. In the forwards Matt Beckett started at loose head prop. Broadland were on the hunt for a score from the kick off, A bruising run from Captain Andy Riches got the ball inches short of the line, Flanker Jay Prescott came close as did scrum half Burling, finally It was wing Matt Scott who dived over in the corner following an inch perfect pass form Prescott (Unconverted). At the following kick off Sawston had little time to reconfigure their defence as this time Broadland elected to attack the left side of the pitch.Hooker Andy Smith and Second Row Tim Fenn carried on, and after a quick ruck from Ross Taylor and Simon Ruddick. Prop forward Matt Beckett was on hand to take the crash ball and bulldozer over for a score in the corner. (Converted Murray) Sawston were trying to piece together some attacking plays but Broadland remained composed. Broadland were soon deep inside Sawston territory, through some excellent running from Centre Mark La-Cock and Wing Lee Raven. The Ball drifted wide left and back in, Burling put in a short pass to Number 8 Rye Bilyard who side stepped and scored by the posts (Converted Murray). Broadland were leading comfortably and Sawston had no more that a couple off attacks inside Broadland's half, Bilyard was soon again on the score sheet as he went over for his second(Unconverted). Sawston heads had dropped and Broadland were cruising, a miss play at the back of a Sawston scrum gave Scrum half Burling a half chance, he picked up and weaved wide, then back in to score Broadland's fifth (converted Murray) Broadland entered Half time up a comfortable 30 - 0 lead. Broadland made one change at half time with Richard Bristo joining the pack. The half kicked off and Broadland again gradually began gaining the balance of territory advantage. A Broadland scrum at the five was won comfortably with Beckett, Smith and Bristo all digging in and setting up the drive, the scrum edged towards the Sawston line, as the pack pushed the ball over, Number 8 Rye Bilyard dived on the ball to score a hat-trick (Unconverted) Broadland made two further changes with Carl Cantillion coming onto the wing and Ian Mackintosh joining the pack. Broadland had comfortable control in both Scrum and Lineout and Sawston were unable to break down the Broadland defence, however Broadland's attack rate, seemed to be at a lower tempo, and with no further score Broadland recorded another league win. Next week Broadland visit Fakenham in a tough league match, Kick off is expected to be 2.15 pm., Broadland 2nd XV play host to Crusaders 3rd XV kick off is at 2.15pm at Cobholm playing fields.
