Triathlon - 16th May 1999

Two intrepid members of the club entered this demanding event held at Bungay on May 16th 1999. They completed the course but did not challenge for honours against the top class opposition in times of 1 hour 08 minutes for the shy and retired elder statesman David Joseph and 1 hour 30 minutes for the youthful Stuart Ruddick refusing to be intimidated by the cream of the entrants they were lined up against.

The Triathlon requires entrants to swim 400 metres, cycle 20 kilometres and run 3.2 kilometres. The oldest entrant, Patrick Barnes, was 83 years of age and presented the trophies to the victors. As preparation for the next season and a welcome break from the contact of the physical game this was an enjoyable opportunity for both David and Stuart and all the other entrants and spectators and thanks go to all the officials and organisers. Other classes include a team event so how about it for the year 2000 lads? A winning team for Broadland?

Well done David and Stuart. We hope you enjoyed it and will be back again next year.
