Norman Fender

This page consists of a collection of photographs, newspaper cuttings and information from various other sources concerning Russ Crowley's late grandfather's brother, Norman Fender, who played rugby union for Cardiff during the late 1920's and Wales in the early 1930's. He then changed codes and played his club rugby with York and went on to represent Wales and Great Britain throughout that decade.

Norman Henry Fender was born in Cardiff on 2 September 1910 and went to the Ninian Park School.

He played  his club rugby at Cardiff and gained his first union cap for Wales against Ireland on the 8th March 1930. He moved to Rugby League to play for York and was a member of the Great Britain side that toured Australia and New Zealand in 1932, his first season in rugby league! Playing rugby league he was capped eight times over the period November 1932 through April 1938 and if anyone has further information concerning him would be grateful if they would get in touch.
