On Sunday 5th September, 1999 SIX (that's 1 and a half teams) members of Broadland RFC ran in the fourth annual 'Lowestoft Scores Race', the teams consisted of a mix of ages and abilities.

This merry bunch navigated Britain's most easterly 'Hill Race', some 4.75 miles incorporating 13 of Lowestoft's 'Scores' (alleyways or paths from the High Street to Denes sea front, most of which being made up of steps).

The race started in the High Street and finished some 409 steps and 13 Scores (6 down, 7 up) later in the 'Triangle Market Place'.

The fastest Broadland player home was Jason Pollard in 33rd place with a time of 32 minutes and 35 seconds, closely followed by the oldest member of the team Kevan Pywell in 38th place with a time of 33 minutes and 14 seconds (How does he do that).

The Broadland RFC team placed 5th overall in the 'Sports Team' section.

Anyone wishing to enter the fifth annual 'Lowestoft Scores Race' in September 2000 has to be mad, but seriously it would be great to swell the ranks with 20 or so players, look out for details next summer, It would be great to see you there.
